George Lucas is set to receive the Honorary Palme d’Or at the closing ceremony of the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 25. Together, they produced “THX 1138” in 1971, which was an adaptation of one of Lucas’s experimental short films from his time at the University of Southern California. The festival also recognized Lucas’s contribution to cinema by revealing Harrison Ford in “American Graffiti” before casting him in the iconic “Star Wars” franchise.
