YouTube recently announced the testing of a new feature called ‘Hype’ that aims to provide more community support to small content creators. This feature is currently available to viewers in select regions and is designed to boost the rankings of videos by eligible creators.
Creators who meet the criteria set by YouTube will be eligible for the ‘Hype’ program. Viewers in countries like Brazil, Turkey, and Taiwan can now ‘Hype’ a video, in addition to liking it, which will increase its visibility and ranking among other videos published within the last seven days. The more a video is hyped, the higher it will rank on the platform.
Empowering Small Content Creators
The introduction of the ‘Hype’ feature under the Explore tab is aimed at empowering small content creators to receive greater community support and reach a wider audience. This initiative is set to benefit creators who are part of the YouTube Partner Program and have less than 500,000 subscribers. However, all videos must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines to be eligible for the program.
In addition to the ‘Hype’ feature, YouTube offers other monetization options for creators, such as Super Chat and Super Stickers. These tools allow creators to earn money beyond traditional ad revenue. By introducing innovative features like ‘Hype’, YouTube is providing more opportunities for small creators to grow their channels and engage with their audience.
Improving User Experience with Additional Features
Apart from the ‘Hype’ feature, YouTube is also testing other enhancements to improve the user experience. For example, on June 17, the platform announced the ability for users to post comments below videos to provide additional context. This experimental feature is currently available in English for users in the US and aims to make it easier for viewers to engage with content creators.
Overall, YouTube’s new ‘Hype’ feature has the potential to revolutionize the way small content creators engage with their audience and grow their channels. By providing more community support and introducing innovative tools for monetization, YouTube is paving the way for a more inclusive and dynamic creator ecosystem on its platform.
