In a heartfelt Instagram post, actor Channing Tatum expressed his gratitude towards Ryan Reynolds for helping him rescue his dream of playing the Marvel character Gambit. Tatum mentioned how Reynolds fought for him and Gambit, and how he will owe him forever for this opportunity.
Back in 2014, Tatum was attached to star in a Gambit stand-alone X-Men spinoff film. However, the project was canceled in 2019 after Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. Despite this setback, Tatum finally got to don the Gambit costume this year for a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine, alongside Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
Accompanied by two side-by-side photos of himself and Reynolds, Tatum pointed out that the pictures were taken at two different Comic-Cons, a decade apart. In both sets of photos, Tatum is seen wearing a Gambit T-shirt. Tatum reminisced about meeting Reynolds at the first peek of Deadpool 1, praising his friend for his achievements.
Apart from Reynolds, Tatum also thanked Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy and producer Kevin Feige. He described Levy as a brilliant creator and expressed his gratitude for being a part of such a masterpiece. Tatum also highlighted the epic moment of sharing the screen with Hugh Jackman, something he deemed as a dream come true.
Tatum reflected on the support he has received from Reynolds and others in the industry, mentioning how few have had his back like Reynolds. He acknowledged the role of various industry figures in making his dream of playing Gambit a reality and expressed his joy and gratitude for being a part of such a project.
Channing Tatum’s message of gratitude towards Ryan Reynolds and others in the industry showcases the importance of support and collaboration in achieving one’s dreams.
