Despite his foray into the media world, those who know Belichick well claim that deep down, he is still a coach at heart. While he has been involved in various media projects and activities, the desire to return to coaching still burns within him.
It is projected that Belichick is eyeing a return to coaching in 2025, but under specific circumstances and only for the right opportunities. Sources close to Belichick suggest that he will be selective in choosing his coaching roles when the time comes for him to return to the sidelines. Although Belichick had the chance to join different coaching staffs as a defensive coordinator or in another type of prominent assistant role last offseason, he opted to pursue other avenues for his career at that time.

The San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams were among the teams that considered bringing Bill Belichick on board in various coaching capacities. Kyle Shanahan, head coach of the 49ers, revealed that they had contemplated having Belichick as their defensive coordinator. Additionally, the Rams had a vacancy for a defensive coordinator following Raheem Morris’s departure to become the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. Belichick was reportedly on Los Angeles’ wishlist for the role, but he chose not to pursue coaching opportunities with either team this season.
