Specifically, several Reddit users shared images showing small sections of paint peeling off their brand-new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 handsets. The affected areas included near the power button and the top left corner of the rear panel, sparking concerns among consumers.
Samsung responded to the paint peeling reports by suggesting that the issue may be related to the use of third-party accessories. According to an official Samsung support page, the company pointed out that the use of “incompatible third-party products,” such as high-speed chargers without proper grounding, could lead to the delamination of the paint on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Additionally, Samsung warned against using electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) massagers near the device, as it could also contribute to the paint peeling problem.
While Samsung acknowledged the potential risks associated with third-party chargers and EMS massagers, the company also provided guidelines for consumers to prevent further damage. Samsung recommended users to keep the phone away from their body when using EMS products and advised using only authentic Samsung chargers that are specifically designed for their devices. Although the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not come with a charger included, consumers can purchase the recommended 25W adaptor and USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable from the Samsung India website at additional costs.
In terms of pricing, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is available in India in three variants – 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, and 12GB + 1TB. The device starts at Rs. 1,64,999 for the base model, with the higher storage configurations priced at Rs. 1,76,999 and Rs. 2,00,999, respectively. Consumers can choose from three colour options – Navy, Pink, and Silver Shadow, and purchase the device from the official Samsung website, online retailers, and offline stores. Despite the paint peeling concerns, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 remains a sought-after smartphone for its innovative foldable design and advanced features.
