Rahul Kohli’s Missed Opportunity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Rahul Kohli, known for his roles in iZombie and The Fall of the House of Usher, recently disclosed that he was in consideration for a part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming film, The Fantastic Four. Specifically, Kohli tried out for the role of Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards. In an interview with Salaam Nerds, Kohli mentioned, “Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine. It will flare up once and again. And, I love all of them. On good days, you’re like, ‘Man, I’m wanted! People really want to see. You’re the guy that people will shout out for anything.” It’s clear that Kohli felt conflicting emotions about the audition process, noting that on bad days, it served as a reminder that he didn’t land the role he desired.

Fan Speculation and Ultimate Casting Decisions

Kohli’s revelation about auditioning for The Fantastic Four came after fans had been suggesting him as part of their dream cast for the film. Ultimately, however, Pedro Pascal was selected to portray Mr. Fantastic, alongside Vanessa Kirby as Sue, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Econ Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The rest of the cast includes Julia Garner as Silver Surfer, Paul Walter-Hauser, John Malkovich, Ralph Ineson, and Natasha Lyonne. While Kohli’s audition didn’t lead to a role in the Marvel film, it’s evident that he garnered significant attention from fans who believed he would be a perfect fit for the superhero franchise.

Kohli’s candid remarks about the audition process shed light on the highs and lows of pursuing roles in the entertainment industry. His experience serves as a reminder that success in Hollywood is often elusive and competitive. Despite not securing the part in The Fantastic Four, Kohli’s openness about the audition process provides valuable insight into the challenges and uncertainties that actors face in their careers. The role may not have gone to Kohli, but his talent and dedication to his craft are undeniable, and it’s only a matter of time before he lands a role that propels him to greater stardom.
