Tenzing is being produced by the renowned See-Saw Films, known for producing critically acclaimed movies like The King’s Speech. The film revolves around the inspirational story of Sherpa Tenzing Norgay and his historic ascent of Mount Everest in 1953 alongside Sir Edmund Hillary. The lead role of Tenzing Norgay is still up for grabs, while Tom Hiddleston is set to play Sir Edmund Hillary and Willem Dafoe will portray Colonel John Hunt, the English expedition leader. Filmmaker Jennifer Peedom, who has an exclusive right to narrate Tenzing’s story through his family, is at the helm of the project. The script is penned by Luke Davies, an Oscar-nominated writer, and the production team includes seasoned producers like Liz Watts, Emile Sherman, and Iain Canning.
The filming for Tenzing is scheduled to commence in the spring of 2025, with an estimated budget of $25 million.
