Despite falling short of the award, Malik Monk had an impressive season for the Sacramento Kings, averaging 15.4 points and 5.1 assists, both of which were career highs. Playing alongside his college teammate De’Aaron Fox, Monk played a vital role in powering the Kings to 46 wins and securing their second consecutive winning season. Bobby Portis of the Milwaukee Bucks also made a strong case for the award, averaging 13.8 points and 7.4 rebounds while appearing in all 82 games of the season.
