Santa Barbara International Film Festival Celebrates Landmark 40th Year

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival has recently declared that the upcoming 40th annual festival is set to be held in Santa Barbara, California, spanning from February 4 to February 15. To mark this special milestone, the festival will extend over 12 days to honor its rich history. Roger Durling, the executive director of SBIFF, expressed his enthusiasm for the future, stating, “As we embark on our 40th year, we are proud of what we’ve accomplished and exhilarated for what is ahead of us. We will be announcing a few surprises in the next few months. Onward and upwards.”

The 40th Santa Barbara International Film Festival will feature an array of official events, including film screenings, filmmaker Q&As, industry panels, and celebrity tributes. These exciting events will be taking place across the city, with venues ranging from the iconic Arlington Theatre to other locations throughout Santa Barbara. In the previous year, the 39th edition of the festival showcased some of the brightest stars in the film industry, with appearances by renowned figures such as Robert Downey Jr., Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Billie Eilish, to name a few. The program boasted over 200 films hailing from more than 48 countries, attracting filmmakers from various corners of the globe, including Turkey, India, Israel, and Sierra Leone, with a notable representation of women filmmakers among the participants.
