In a heartbreaking turn of events, a father was found dead alongside his two daughters and another woman in a house in Norfolk. Bartlomiej Kuczynski, 45, was discovered with a stab wound to his neck, while Kanticha Sukpengpanao, 36, Jasmin Kuczynska, 12, and Natasha Kuczynska, eight, also had stab wounds to their necks. The police are treating their deaths as murder. What makes this case even more troubling is the fact that Mr. Kuczynski had been taken to the hospital by the police just weeks prior to the incident.
A Disturbing Discovery
The bodies of the four victims were found in a house in Allan Bedford Crescent several weeks after the tragic event took place. A concerned member of the public made a distressing 999 call, prompting the police to respond. Upon arriving at the scene, the police made the horrifying discovery. However, it wasn’t until later that it was revealed that the police had been in contact with Mr. Kuczynski prior to his death.
It has come to light that on 14 December, the police had visited the same property in response to a missing person inquiry. On that day, they also took Mr. Kuczynski to the emergency department at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Shockingly, he left the unit after being assessed as mentally capable. The hospital has confirmed this chain of events and stated that Mr. Kuczynski was discharged after a comprehensive clinical assessment.
The circumstances surrounding Mr. Kuczynski’s actions and the subsequent tragic events have raised numerous questions. How was he able to leave the hospital despite concerns about his mental state? Could this have been prevented? Furthermore, the police had received a separate 999 call from the house on the same day the bodies were found. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been brought in to investigate the police’s actions on 14 December and their response to the 999 call. Charmaine Arbouin, the IOPC regional director, has stated that they will be examining whether the police’s contact with Mr. Kuczynski was appropriate according to their policies, training, and procedures. Norfolk Police has also promised to conduct its own investigation into the matter to ensure accountability.
