Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: A Thank You from Amber Heard

Amber Heard, known for her role as Mera in the Aquaman franchise, recently took to social media to express her gratitude towards fans. The actress acknowledged the overwhelming support and love she has been receiving from fans who watched the latest DC Studios film, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. In an Instagram post, Heard thanked her fans for their unwavering support and shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the set of the movie.

Amber Heard first portrayed the character of Mera in 2017’s Justice League and later reprised her role in the 2018 Aquaman film directed by James Wan. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom serves as a sequel to its predecessor, with Wan once again at the helm. Set several years after Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) became the king of Atlantis, married Mera, and had a son named Arthur Jr., the film delves deeper into the underwater world of Atlantis and its tumultuous relationships.

The announcement of the Aquaman sequel came amidst the ongoing controversies involving Heard and Johnny Depp. Following Heard’s allegations against Depp, Warner Bros. removed him from the cast of Fantastic Beasts 3. In response, fans started an online petition calling for Heard’s removal from the Aquaman sequel, garnering over 1.5 million signatures. However, despite the outcry, Heard’s involvement in the film remained unchanged.

Rumors circulated regarding the extent of Amber Heard’s involvement in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Director James Wan clarified that the sequel would focus more on the dynamic between Arthur Curry and Orm, played by Patrick Wilson. Wan described the first Aquaman film as a romance action-adventure, while the sequel would evolve into a bromance action-adventure. He emphasized that this shift in the narrative was planned from the beginning.

Heard’s testimony

During legal proceedings, Heard claimed that newer versions of the script diminished her character’s presence. She stated that scenes involving action and interactions between her character and another were removed from her role. While she refrained from giving specific details to avoid spoilers, Heard expressed her disappointment over the changes made to her character’s arc.

Amber Heard’s portrayal of Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has garnered widespread attention and support from fans. Despite controversies surrounding her personal life, Heard remains grateful to her fans for their unwavering support. As the Aquaman franchise continues to explore the underwater world of Atlantis, audiences eagerly await the bromance action-adventure that awaits them in the highly anticipated sequel.
