Following the recent debut of the Realme C67 5G in India, the company has now confirmed that a new update regarding an upcoming phone will be shared soon. The speculation is rife, with many believing that the Realme 12 series or the Realme GT 5 Pro could be the next smartphones to hit the Indian market. In an intriguing New Year’s morning post on X (formerly Twitter), Realme India teased an imminent smartphone launch, leaving fans and tech enthusiasts eagerly awaiting further details.

With the promise of a “real update,” Realme India has set the stage for an exciting announcement. The post, which did not include any specific details or teaser images, invited users to guess what the update could be about. The date and time of January 3 at 7.30 AM IST were given as a possible reveal for the unnamed handset. The online community instantly began buzzing with anticipation, speculating that the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+ might be on the horizon. Interestingly, these two phones were recently spotted on the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) website, hinting at an imminent launch.

The TDRA website listings revealed that the Realme 12 series handsets would come with model numbers RMX3842 and RMX3840, respectively. These listings confirmed the monikers for the phones and indicated that they would support 5G connectivity. Additionally, both the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+ were spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website, further strengthening the likelihood of an upcoming Indian launch. Reports also surfaced suggesting that the high-end Realme 12 Pro+ model had been spotted on Indonesia’s SDPPI certification site.

It’s important to note, however, that Realme has not officially announced the 12 series yet. Nevertheless, the company has released a teaser for a new flagship smartphone equipped with a periscope camera. This teaser, posted on X, created quite a buzz within the tech community, leading many to believe that the phone in question could be the Realme 12 Pro+. Well-known tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) went so far as to repost the teaser image, claiming that the phone would indeed be the Realme 12 Pro+ and would likely make its debut by the end of January or in February.

Adding to the excitement, the possible January 3 announcement could also be related to the Realme GT 5 Pro. This particular handset launched in China on December 7, boasting flagship specifications such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a 1.5K resolution display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness. The triple rear camera unit is led by a 50-megapixel primary Sony LYT-808 sensor. As for its pricing, the Realme GT 5 Pro starts at CNY 3,298 (approximately Rs. 40,000) for the base 12GB RAM + 256GB variant. However, Realme has yet to confirm a timeline for the phone’s release in India.
